P111   Course Organization    

 I) Lectures.

 II) Readings from text, course packet and World Wide Web.

 III) Project:
Topic of your choosing related to class. This will be done in a few short pieces: proposal, first cut, complete project and final conclusions. I will give many suggestions for possible topics. Here are two examples. (a) Analyze plot and scientific details of a science fiction story or stories given information in class. (b) Write a very simple computer program or spreadsheet that describes a planet moving around a star. (I will tell you how to do this.)

 IV) Exams: there will be a midterm and final.

 V) Short questions, comments:  At the end of most weeks there will be some very short questions and comments at the end of class.  This will also be an additional chance for you to ask questions and or make comments on the weeks lectures.

VI) Grading will be based on the project, the midterm and the final along with short assignments, the short questions and class participation.
